Our work - overview

At Bridges, we focus on these main areas:

1. Consultation

Helping a student to learn and succeed is an art as well as a science. We will help you understand the learning struggles that concern you, and help you find solutions - at home, at school or in your social community - so that you can take charge of your life.

2. Professional Training

At Bridges, we view education and training as a bridge to self-awareness, empowerment, and resilience. Since 1990 we've been providing conferences with nationally-known speakers as well as training seminars and workshops throughout New England.

4. Growing GRIT Program

Growing GRIT (Growing Resilience Individually and Together) is a program to help youth ages 9-14 and the adults in their world grow grit, or develop perseverance. This safe and fun learning environment delivers opportunity, education, experiential practice, coaching and relational groups. The overarching goal of the program is to be a catalyst for creation of a safe, productive and healthy youth community on Cape Cod.

Growing GRIT focuses on helping participants learn and practice:

  1. self-awareness
  2. good nutrition
  3. moving mindfully
  4. healthy relationships

The program is adaptable, scalable and easily implemented as a weekly or bi-weekly program.

The committee began meeting in October 2014:

  • Kumara Sidhartha, MD, MPH, public health advocate and primary care physician
  • Julie Fraser, mindfulness and yoga teacher and marketing consultant
  • John Beach, educational psychologist and special education consultant
